Seminole State College is proud to be part of a growing number of American colleges and universities to offer a scholarship for LGBTQIA+ students. Students qualify for consideration by composing a short essay to describe the impact of their sexuality and/or gender identity on their lives. Funds from the scholarship help cover tuition or books with the goal of promoting students’ success.
The LGBTQIA+ community has a long history of facing adversity and discrimination. Statistics reflect this as LGBTQIA+ populations are more likely to experience sexual assault and harassment, depression, substance abuse, attempted suicide, homelessness, and fear for their physical safety. All of these can make it harder for such students to reach college and succeed.
This scholarship was established to honor the memory and legacy of Sam Gaustad, his excellence as a professor, and his passion towards providing support for LGBTQIA+ students at Seminole State College.
2024 Rally and Raise T-shirt Design Winners are Teresa Quinones, Seminole State alumnus, and Cassady Cook, Seminole State Employee. Congratulations to Teresa for her drawing and design, and to Cassady for coming up with this year's phrase for our Rally & Raise T-Shirt. All donations made at the $20 level will receive a shirt!
NEW THIS YEAR! Your donation goes even further! The fundraiser with the most Faculty and Staff donors will be selected as the focus for our Blue & Gold Circle efforts for the rest of this fiscal year.
